A pleasant walk from your cottage through Puddletown Forest leads to Thomas Hardy's Cottage. The woods in Spring are filled with bluebells and primroses; in June with rhododendrons and in Autumn ablaze with golden tints.

In the next hamlet lies the 15th Century Athelhampton House and Gardens. Beyond is the village of Tolpuddle made famous by its martyrs. The Roman town of Dorchester with its shops, museums and large weekly market is under five miles away. |

- Further afield Studland with three miles of fine golden sand.
